Why, hi there!
First of all, it’s so great to “meet” you here! Let me tell you a little more about this whole newsletter.
When I created the Makers Make It Podcast, the idea was to create a space where I get to peel back the curtain with creatives from different walks of life on the actual finances involved in running (or starting) their creative biz. I’m talking real numbers, cashflow, capital invested, revenue generated, growth, losses, balance sheets, curves and swerves along the path, wins, lessons and all of those nuggets of financial wisdom so key to turning passion into profit.I am after real, honest, transparent conversations on the reality of turning passion into profit. .
In this newsletter, you should expect a similar approach. I recently left my corporate job to focus on being present for my 11 month old boy and reconnect with a more creative, slower pace of life. It’s all too easy in this world we live in to sacrifice the present in hopes to reach our destination faster/better.
My big bet?
To start contributing financially to our household again through this podcast. It might not be much, it might be huge or it might not be anything at all. Whatever the answer is, I am taking you along the journey with me, in full transparency. The premise is this:
To build a podcast on less than 10 hours of “work” per week.
I left corporate so I could be more present with my son. In this season of life, that is my #1 priority and all the rest is going to have to be moulded according to this. It might be slower going and that is ok.
This means a TON of automation. I am one of those people who thinks AI and technology can actually help make humans more creative. I love systems that make me gain time and eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) the space that busy (read mindless/uncreative to me) tasks occupy within my day. In the hours I work, I want the most of my brainspace to be open for interesting, inspiring, creative work.
To see whether I can earn $2000/month through the podcast and related portals.
This goal is not set in stone, but in 6 months (December 2025) I will be re-evaluating whether the podcast can be considered to grow into an actual revenue stream or whether I have to re-evaluate my options. Was I correct in my premise? Can this actually be done?
What you are in for?
Bi-weekly newsletters recapping in full transparency the podcast’s progress & growth. This includes:
Analytics (downloads, shares, conversions, etc…)
Revenue ($$ earned, growth, $$ spent, etc…)
Tasks completed & tools used to make this podcast a reality, eventually (as the podcast becomes more established) with a share of time spent on each category of the business.
Hurdles & Successes
Pivots & Strategy
All with a side of mindset work & philosophising (it wouldn’t be me without it :D). I’m really looking forward to starting this journey with you and so curious to see where it will all lead. One of the things I have learned to do in times of transition is trust that wherever this path takes me (us) it will inevitably open doors I do not have the key to right at this moment. I am honoured to be sharing in this journey with you.
By subscribing you will get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.
